I read this yesterday on Mashable and had to write my comments...THIS IS BS!!!
The Federal Trade Commission is preparing to launch an antitrust investigation against Google. The focus of this attack are claims that Google manipulates the search engine results pages (SERPs) to its advantage.
Google products like their Places pages appear at the top of the SERPs which some companies are whining about because it draws away from companies like Yelp.
OK now for my rant, since when is the government allowed to tell you how to run your business? You are searching Google for information, if Google feels you would benefit from seeing their Places, why can't they be included?
This is like the government telling us what kinds of sites we are allowed to design.
Yes Google is the 800lb gorilla. They started out as a nothing just like a lot of companies and they are being penalized because they are successful?
I just don't understand this. America is a free market, but according to this attack, you just can't be that successful. Are online retailers attacking Amazon because Amazon grabs so much online purchasing?...no.
I am hoping for the future of America Google comes our ahead on this one. Not because it is Google, but because I want to keep my freedom. |
